Experiencing redundancy / retrenchment can be an incredibly challenging, emotional and lonely time for individuals. Connected to this a range of emotions including shock, disbelief, anger, fear, and sadness. It can lead to feelings of rejection, low self-esteem and uncertainty about the future. Do not allow yourself to become overwhelmed by this. There are various ways to alleviate and indeed, overcome these negative emotions and feelings. Moving forward positively is paramount and requires a combination of self-care, support from others, and proactive steps to rebuild one’s professional life.
